As we look at the metaphor of marriage in the Scriptures, we quickly discover the negative element: spiritual adultery. This is when one claims to be a follower of Jesus but has embraced the world and loves it. Most of us would not cater to such compromise, and yet the world does hold a fascination with us that might best be described as “flirting with the world.” How do we recognize it and what can we do if we are?
