Micah prophesies the destruction of both Samaria and Jerusalem for their continual turning away from the Lord. Concerning the latter city, however, he boldly declares that it will rise again higher than any other “mountain.” Nations even will stream to it. This is a picture of the coming kingdom of God, led by a new king, prophesied to be born in Bethlehem. He will raise up a new people who will not stray from Him as He reveals His care plan for them.
